Umerkot Murder: 25-Year Old Ismail Samejo Die of Fatal Throat Injury

Umerkot: It is uncommon to witness a young man on the verge of death smiling for the camera while walking on foot, blood streaming from a gash in his throat. This heartbreaking event took place on Sunday night in the Umerkot district, where unknown assailants inflicted a fatal wound on Ismail Samejo, who managed to walk approximately 100 feet to reach the 15 emergency police office before he died.

The incident transpired near Moti Chowk. A bystander, capturing the scene, inquired about what had happened to Ismail and who had attacked him. In his final moments, he uttered, “please hold it, yaar [my friend].”

Jamaluddin Samejo, the victim’s father, stated to the press during the protest sit-in at Allah Wala Chowk in Umerkot city on Monday, “We have no enemies whom we suspect could be responsible for this murder.” He mentioned that they reside in a village roughly 14 kilometers from Umerkot.

He and his 25-year-old son were visiting a mechanic’s shop in Umerkot for an engine overhaul. Jamaluddin reported that he had left his son at the mechanic’s shop with the vehicle at 6:30 PM and received news of the incident hours later, around 11 PM.

The protest, which included the deceased’s body, lasted for over six hours until SSP Uzair Ahmed Memon managed to reassure the victim’s family that the police would apprehend the perpetrator within five days.

The young man had Rs1,270 in cash in his pocket, and the police retrieved his mobile phone from the scene. Jamaluddin voiced suspicions regarding the individual who had made the last call to his son’s phone.

Bleeding heavily from his throat, Ismail was transported in a single-can mini truck by local residents to the government hospital, but it was too late for him to survive.

To convince the demonstrators to conclude the sit-in, SSP Memon requested a five-day timeframe to identify the assailants, promising that he would strive to fulfill his commitment within three days.

“We are reviewing all CCTV footage in the city, and I am confident that no murder will go unsolved.” He indicated that the police had begun investigating the case from every possible perspective.

Elders from the Samejo community warned the SSP that they would resume the sit-in after five days if no progress was made in the case.
