Karachi: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that these buses would be available to the public from January 1 (Thursday). He recalled that the Sindh government had promised to introduce double-decker buses in Karachi by December 2025, pointing out that today was December 31.

Announcing the launch of double-decker buses in the city on Tuesday, Memon said the new service would initially operate along Shahrahe Faisal, connecting Malir with key commercial areas. He added that more double-decker buses would soon be inducted into Karachi’s transport system, describing them as a practical solution to easing traffic congestion.

Meanwhile, his spokesperson Hussain Mansoor told Dawn that the buses would ply
between Zainab Market in Saddar and Model Colony. He said designated stops along the route include Malir Halt, the airport area, Colony Gate, Natha Khan Bridge, Road, Nursery, Baloch Colony, and the Finance and Trade Centre, ensuring convenient access for commuters.

He said new routes for electronic buses would also be designated in Sindh, including Karachi, from next week, the minister said. The spokesperson added that a one-way ticket for commute via the double-decker bus would cost between Rs80 and Rs120. The minister said that “The Sindh government pays that subsidy to facilitate passengers,” further claiming that over 125,000 commuters were using transpor
