Palestinian journalist Saleh Alajafarwi, one of the most prominent reporter of Ghaza, during the Israel’s war on Gaza he was documenting through his camera and Instagram account, the destruction and civilian suffering over the past 2 years. Saleh was 27 years old with his life ahead of him. He loved his people, his religion and his land. He was killed on Sunday after being shot by gunmen in the al-Sabra neighborhood of southern Gaza City. His death comes only days after a Gaza crease fire agreement was announced.
Eyewitness said Saleh Alajafarwi was concerned by armed men and fatally shot with multiple bullets to his body. Images circulating on social media showed his body moments after he was killed.
A senior source in Gaza’s Ministry of Interior told that the clashes in Gaza City involved “an armed militia affiliated with the (Israeli) occupation”.
The source said security forces imposed a siege on the militia, adding that “militia members” killed displayed people as they were returning from Southern Gaza to Gaza City.
In a previous interview with Al Jazeera, Aljafarawi said the scenes and situations he witnessed during the genocidal war in Gaza “will not be erased from my memory.”
“Honestly, I lived in fear for every second, especially after hearing what the Israeli occupation was saying about me. I was living life second to second, not knowing what the next second would bring,” he said. Israel has killed at least 270 journalists and media workers since October 2023, making the Gaza genocide the deadliest conflict for media personnel in history, according to the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs’ “Costs of War” project.
